Updated April 2026 • 6 min read
Metropol CRB is one of Kenya's three licensed Credit Reference Bureaus. Widely recognised in the Kenyan market, Metropol has built a strong consumer-facing platform. This guide covers how to check your CRB status through Metropol, what your report shows, and how to use Metropol for clearance certificates.
What Is Metropol CRB?
Metropol Corporation Limited is a Kenyan-owned credit information services company and one of three Credit Reference Bureaus licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). It is headquartered in Nairobi and has been operational since 2010. Metropol collects credit data from banks, SACCOs, mobile lenders, and other regulated institutions.
Metropol is also known for its Metropol Score — a credit scoring product — and the Crystobol credit scoring system used by some lenders.
What Does a Metropol CRB Report Include?
- Personal identification (name, ID number, gender, date of birth)
- All credit accounts — banks, SACCOs, mobile lenders — with their payment history
- Any negative listings (defaults) with lender details and amounts
- The Metropol credit score (a numeric score between 200 and 900)
- Credit enquiries — which lenders have checked your report
- Account summary: total facilities, total outstanding, total delinquent
