CreditInfo Kenya: How to Access Your Credit Report

Updated April 2026 • 5 min read

CreditInfo Kenya is the third of Kenya's three licensed Credit Reference Bureaus. While less consumer-facing than TransUnion Kenya and Metropol CRB, it plays an important role in Kenya's credit infrastructure. This guide tells you how to access your CreditInfo credit report and use its services.

What Is CreditInfo Kenya?

CreditInfo Kenya Limited is a subsidiary of CreditInfo Group, an international credit information company operating in over 30 countries. It is licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya as a credit reference bureau and collects credit data from licensed Kenyan lenders (banks, SACCOs, MFIs, mobile lenders).

While TransUnion and Metropol tend to have stronger consumer-facing platforms, CreditInfo Kenya is heavily used by lenders in their credit decisioning systems.

What Your CreditInfo Report Contains

  • Personal identification details (name, ID number)
  • Credit facility history: all accounts reported to CreditInfo by participating lenders
  • Payment performance per account
  • Outstanding balances and credit limits
  • Negative listings (defaults, arrears)
  • Credit enquiry history

Note: the specific lenders that report to CreditInfo vs. TransUnion or Metropol may differ. Some lenders report to all three; others have agreements with one or two only.

How to Get Your CreditInfo Kenya Report

Option 1: Via crbcheck.co.ke

The quickest way to check your combined CRB status — including data from all bureaus — is at crbcheck.co.ke for KES 300 via M-Pesa. Get your report in minutes without navigating multiple bureau portals.

Option 2: Directly via CreditInfo Kenya

  2. Register a consumer account and complete identity verification.
  3. Apply for a consumer credit report and pay the applicable fee.
  4. Download your report from the portal.

Option 3: Free Annual Report

CreditInfo Kenya Clearance Certificate

For a formal clearance certificate from CreditInfo Kenya:

  1. Register or log into your consumer account at creditinfo.co.ke
  2. Select "Clearance Certificate" and submit your details
  3. Pay the fee (~KES 2,200)
  4. Receive the certificate via email within 1–2 business days

Do You Need Reports from All Three Bureaus?

For most practical purposes — checking your status, knowing if you are listed — a report from one well-connected bureau (or via a service like crbcheck.co.ke that aggregates data) is sufficient. However, if an employer or institution specifies a certificate from a particular bureau, you must provide that specific bureau's certificate.

For tender applications requiring certificates from all three bureaus, you will need to purchase separately from TransUnion Kenya, Metropol CRB, and CreditInfo Kenya.

Why Your Listing May Appear at One Bureau but Not Another

A lender chooses which bureau(s) to report to. Some report to all three; others report to only one or two. This means:

  • Your record at TransUnion may show a listing that does not appear at CreditInfo.
  • Checking one bureau does not guarantee a complete picture.
  • Using a service that aggregates across bureaus (like crbcheck.co.ke) gives a more comprehensive view.
